The Defender L663 is built on Jaguar Land Rover's latest CAN4 / EVA2.5 electrical architecture, featuring a high-speed Ethernet backbone with DOIP (Diagnostic Over IP) for all module communication.
The Defender uses a central gateway module with multiple CAN FD networks and Ethernet segments. The IMC (InControl Module Controller) runs Pivi Pro over a high-speed data bus. All modules communicate via the gateway using UDS over DOIP on the OBD-II port, requiring a genuine JLR DOIP VCI for full diagnostic access.
