The avant-garde SUV. Complete engineering guide for the 2017+ Range Rover Velar covering EVA2 and CAN4 architectures, Touch Pro Duo, configurable dynamics, and full diagnostic capabilities.
The Range Rover Velar launched on EVA2 in 2017 and transitioned to CAN4 with the 2023 facelift. Both architectures support full DOIP diagnostics and module programming via Pathfinder.
The Velar uses a central gateway with multiple CAN and Ethernet segments. The Touch Pro Duo infotainment system uses a dedicated high-speed data bus. The 2023+ facelift models use enhanced CAN FD networks with updated gateway firmware.
Key modules include the GW (Gateway), ECM (Engine), TCM (Transmission), ABS (Brake), SRS (Airbag), BCM (Body), KVM (Keyless), IMC (InControl), RFA, and Configurable Dynamics Controller. The Velar's minimalist interior relies heavily on the Touch Pro Duo system.
Full DOIP diagnostics on the standard OBD-II port. All Velar models require Pathfinder with genuine JLR DOIP VCI. The interface supports extended diagnostic sessions, security access, and routine control for all modules.
Module programming is performed via Pathfinder's online service. CCF editing is supported on all Velar variants for feature activation, market settings, and configurable dynamics setup. The Touch Pro Duo system requires specific software versions for updates.
These are the most frequently encountered faults on the 2017+ Range Rover Velar based on our diagnostic experience and workshop data.
The dual-screen Touch Pro Duo system is prone to freezing, black screens, Bluetooth drops, and unresponsive touch inputs. Upper or lower screen failures are common. Resolution may require IMC replacement and virginization. Read IMC repair guide ›
General electrical warnings, parasitic battery drain, and module communication errors. The Velar's heavy reliance on touchscreen controls means electrical faults can affect multiple systems simultaneously. Gateway synchronization is often required after battery replacement.
Diesel variants (D180, D200, D240, D275, D300, D350) commonly suffer DPF blockage and EGR valve faults. Typical codes include P2002, P2452, P0401. We perform forced regeneration, EGR cleaning, and updated ECM calibration.
Air suspension warning lights, uneven ride height, and compressor failure on air-suspension-equipped models. Common codes: C1A20, C1A13, C1A15. The Velar's air suspension requires calibration after any repair or component replacement.
The 2023+ facelift with Pivi Pro can experience software glitches, OTA update failures, and connectivity issues. We can perform manual software updates, TCU reprogramming, and telematics reconfiguration.
Keyless entry failure, door handle sensor errors, and tailgate release faults. The Velar's capacitive door handles and hands-free tailgate require precise calibration of the RFA and BCM modules.
Dual-zone climate control faults, temperature regulation issues, and air quality sensor errors. The Velar's climate controls are operated via the lower Touch Pro Duo screen, making HVAC module faults particularly noticeable.
ZF 8-speed transmission harsh or delayed shifting, especially in higher-mileage vehicles. We perform clutch adaptation, shift point calibration, and torque converter learning using Pathfinder service routines.
Our diagnostic service covers every control module in the Range Rover Velar using genuine JLR DOIP VCI and Pathfinder software.
Read and clear diagnostic trouble codes across all modules: ECM, TCM, ABS, SRS, BCM, KVM, CJB, RFA, IMC, Configurable Dynamics, and more. We interpret codes and provide repair guidance.
Real-time parameter streaming from all ECUs. Monitor air suspension pressures, configurable dynamics data, infotainment system health, and powertrain parameters with precision.
Command individual actuators, solenoids, and motors. Test cooling fans, HVAC blend doors, fuel pumps, active exhaust valves, and motorized seat functions.
Full UDS diagnostic session support including extended sessions, security access, and routine control for all modules on the Velar network.
CAN bus integrity testing, gateway analysis, and module availability scanning. Diagnose communication faults between infotainment, powertrain, and body modules.
Reset service intervals, oil life, brake pad wear, and inspection reminders. Perform adaptive learning for transmission, steering angle, and air suspension height calibration.
Full module programming and configuration for the Range Rover Velar using genuine JLR tools and official software.
Firmware updates for ECM, TCM, ABS, BCM, IMC, Configurable Dynamics Controller, and RFA. We use Pathfinder's online programming service with genuine JLR backend access.
Customer Configuration File editing for feature activation, market settings, and module option configuration. Read CCF guide ›
Activate OEM features: configurable dynamics, ambient lighting, heated steering wheel, advanced driver assistance, and Meridian audio configuration.
The Range Rover Velar uses conventional smart key technology (2017-2022) and UWB digital keys (2023+ facelift). Our key programming service covers all scenarios.
Add or replace conventional smart keys for all Velar variants. The procedure involves KVM programming via Pathfinder with security access. We can program up to 8 keys per vehicle.
The 2023+ facelift supports Apple CarKey and UWB-based digital keys. We can synchronize UWB modules and pair smartphones for hands-free entry and start.
Lost all keys? We can virginize the KVM module and perform a complete key relearn. For some part numbers, SPC5 chip programming is required. Learn about key services ›
If the KVM module is damaged, we can repair or replace it with SPC5 programming and CCF synchronization. Common after water ingress or electrical overload.
These are the tools we recommend and use daily for Range Rover Velar diagnostics, programming, and key services.
